Classroom Style (C/R)
The standard size classroom table is 6 feet long x 18 inches wide. Figure 14.5sq.ft. per person. This allows for 3 persons per table allowing 2 feet of table space per person. This also allows at least 4 feet of space between table rows, with 2 tables per row. In addition, sufficient aisle space, about 4 feet, is figured in around the perimeter of the room.
To figure out the size of meeting room required to comfortably accommodate your meeting participants, use the following formula for a guideline:
# participants x 14.5 = square feet
or
square feet / 14.5 = # participants
If you expect 100 participants, you will need approximately 1450 square feet of meeting space to accommodate a classroom setup.
Tip:
If you have a long, intense meeting you may wish to allow for 2 persons per table. To calculate for 2 persons per table, inflate your number of participants by 33 percent and use the above formula.
